My ex-wife and pension firm messed up our divorce deal years ago, and now I'm being chased for £20,000 – do I have to pay up?

I had a dormant pension with a large pension firm, on which my ex-wife was granted a pension sharing order of just under a third of its value during the last decade.

All paperwork was filed correctly on my side, but it has recently become apparent my ex did not complete the necessary documentation to correctly enforce the order, something I was unaware of.
