Taken from Advisory Notice by Mr Justice Peel, Judge in Charge of the Standard Orders released 17th May 2023. Read the full notice here.
Melissa worked closely with the drafting teams involved in both Volumes of orders. The first step was to coordinating the responses to the orders consultation, so those responses could be considered. When the drafting teams’ revisions and new orders were ready, Melissa’s team made sure everything was as consistent as possible across all 144 orders. One common complaint about the old orders was with the formatting – e.g. that the automatic paragraph numbering didn’t always work and that the font changed when material was cut and pasted this in. Melissa’s team ensured this was all standardised and corrected. It’s been a long process for both the drafting and editorial teams, but we hope the revised Standard Family Orders are welcomed by practitioners and judges alike.
