Carry out bespoke Duxbury calculations with Capitalise

24th November 2022

Capitalise allows you to carry out a range of calculations completely personalised to the recipient's circumstances. Capitalise is cloud-based and accessed through your web browser. Capitalise creates a fully formatted report displaying your calculation result. Capitalise reports include the calculation result, a summary page, and a detailed breakdown of the result for each year of the calculation.

What does Capitalise do?

Capitalise is a specialist cloud-based tool designed to calculate bespoke Duxbury calculations tailored to your client's circumstances.

With Capitalise, you can carry out conventional calculations where you work from an income required to a capital sum, or a reverse calculation whereby you work from a capital sum to establish a required income.

Tools and Help

Capitalise features a useful 'Tools and Help' section where you can find more detailed explanations relating to the functioning of the calculators.

What's new for 2022-2023?

Default assumptions for 2022-23
The default life expectancy table (as in the Duxbury table in At A Glance 2022-23) is ONS20.

Updating (or not) cases created in previous financial years
If you have a case created in a previous financial year, there is the option of updating the calculations for the current financial year (2022-23) or retaining them as they are.

Although I acknowledge that there may be the odd case where an expert is required to carry out a very clearly defined and tailored Duxbury calculation, in the vast run of cases it is inappropriate to reach beyond the Duxbury tables in At A Glance, or the Capitalise programme for a more advanced formula.
