Billions written off as child maintenance goes unpaid

Child maintenance arrears have doubled in three years, with a government agency writing off £2 billion in funds that should have been collected for single parents.
Figures published in the House of Commons Library showed that unpaid child support processed by the Child Maintenance Service in June stood at £421.5 million, an increase of 92 per cent since 2018, with arrears still rising.
