How to access our e-books offline

The e-reader is web based, which means you access it through your internet browser. But, did you know you can access the e-books offline too?

The way to do this depends on the type of device and internet browser you are using.

Below are steps on how to install the e-reader app and access it offline for when you are out and about or in court with no access to the internet.

Phones & Tablets

(recommended browser is Google Chrome)

1. Open Google Chrome and navigate to eread.classlegal.com.

2. Once the site has loaded, open the browser settings by clicking the share button in the top, right-hand corner. The share button is an icon of a square with an arrow pointing upwards.

3. This will open a drop-down menu. Please scroll down the menu and select Add to Home Screen.

This will insert the e-reader icon on your home screen alongside your other apps.

iPhone & iPad

Google Chrome is our recommended browser for online use, but to install the app for offline use you will need to use Safari.

1. Open Safari and navigate to eread.classlegal.com.

2. Once the site has loaded, click on the Share button in the top right-hand corner of the browser window. The share button is an icon of a square with an arrow pointing upwards.

3. Select Add to Home Screen.

This will insert the e-reader icon on your home screen alongside your other apps.

Windows/Android/Other Devices

Desktop PCs and Laptops

(recommended browser is Google Chrome)

1. Open Google Chrome and navigate to eread.classlegal.com.

2. Once the site has loaded, click the

sign on the right-hand side of the URL bar.

This will install the e-reader on your device to be accessed offline.

Apple Devices

iMac/MacBook

Chrome (recommended browser)

If you are using the Google Chrome browser on your iMac or MacBook, the process is very simple.

1. Open Chrome and navigate to eread.classlegal.com.

2. Once the site has loaded, click on the Share button in the top right-hand corner of the browser window. The share button is an icon of a square with an arrow pointing upwards. This will install the app to your Chrome Apps folder.

3. You can drag and drop it into your Applications folder so it can be opened from the Launchpad. If you cannot find your Chrome Apps folder, the e-reader app will also be in your Downloads folder.

Safari

1. Navigate to eread.classlegal.com.

2. Once the site has loaded, click on the Share button in the top right-hand corner of the browser window.

3. Select Add to Reading List.

4. To access your Reading List, open the sidebar by clicking the Show sidebar button on the left-hand side of the browser window.

Here you can access your Favourites and your Reading List.

5. Click on the glasses symbol to open your Reading List and the e-reader will be there.

If you are in a situation with no internet, you can still open Safari and access items on your Reading List.
