Product Description

The Dictionary of Public Children Law is a new addition to what is now a well-established series of Dictionaries published by Class Legal  

The Dictionary has a distinctive A–Z dictionary format, giving the reader a portable, potted summary of the most commonly confronted topics and issues in public children law, and providing ready access to the relevant case-law, statutory sources and points of practice.

The overarching aim was to create a quick, user-friendly reference guide, to be consulted as and when the need arises, whether at court or otherwise.

The Dictionary of Public Children Law is the sister publication of the Dictionary of Private Children Law, launched in 2021, the Dictionary of Financial Remedies, launched in 2013, and the Dictionary of TLATA and Inheritance Act Claims, launched in 2023.

Author Biography & Information
  • District Judge Francis Cassidy became a District Judge at the Central Family Court in London in 2021 after having spent over 20 years in practice as a barrister specialising in public law Children Act proceedings.

  • Gill Honeyman is a barrister specialising in all aspects of children law. Prior to being called to the Bar in 2011 she was a Children Panel solicitor for many years, both in private practice and latterly at Cafcass Legal.

  • Lucy Reed KC is barrister specialising in children work, particularly public law proceedings (call 2002, silk 2023). She is Chair of educational charity The Transparency Project, and author / co-author of various other publications. She is a regular legal commentator and public speaker in matters concerning family law.

  • Andrew Pack is a Local Authority care lawyer with thirty years in practice and the author of the Suesspicious Minds family law blog.

  • HHJ Christopher Simmonds has been a Family Circuit Judge since the 3rd April 2018 and is the Designated Family Judge for Dorset. He was originally a District Judge appointed in 2010. He sat in the Principal Registry of the Family Division until his transfer to the Western Circuit in November 2015. His is a former Commissioner of the Judicial Appointments Commission and former Course Director at the Judicial College (Family). Before being appointed he was a Solicitor and Partner in the firm of Davis Simmonds & Donaghey specialising in Public Law Proceedings and a member of the Children Panel. He has written numerous articles on family law to include section 38(6) Applications and Secure Accommodation Orders and is one of the editors of A Practical Guide to Family Proceedings.
