Legislation to ensure that divorces granted in the UK will be recognised in Ireland after Brexit has been proposed by the government.

Helen McEntee, minister for justice and equality, has secured approval to bring forward the legislation after concern has grown in recent weeks that Britain will leave the EU without an agreement.
