Live Webinar: Introducing Advicenow’s survival guide to pensions on divorce (‘PAG guide 2’)

On Tuesday 2nd February, 1pm-2pm, we will be hosting a free webinar to introduce AdviceNow's Survival guide to Pensions on Divorce.

During the session, we will cover:

• The AdviceNow 'Survival Guide to Pensions on Divorce' (“PAG 2”)
• Pension Advisory Group key messages recast for litigants in person
• What use will Survival Guide be for family lawyers, mediators, financial advisers, the money advice sector and their clients?
• The need for signposting pension on divorce guidance

The Speakers

Beth Kirkland

Beth is a non-practising solicitor with over ten years’ experience of working in family law, primarily advising and representing legally aided clients. She has worked as a pro bono solicitor at Avon and Bristol Law Centre and at HMP Eastwood Park assisting vulnerable women prisoners. She also has some experience in Court of Protection work.

She is now Head of Legal Information and Pro Bono at Law for Life: Foundation for Public Legal Education. She is responsible for researching the law, designing, writing, producing and updating a range of legal information resources for the Advicenow website. To support this she works to foster and support pro bono and legal sector relationships. She is also responsible for managing and developing the involvement of volunteers within all of Law for Life’s work.

Joanna Miles

Joanna is Reader in Family Law & Policy at the University of Cambridge, where she is also Director of Studies and Fellow in Law at Trinity College. She specialises in legal regulation of adult relationships and financial and property issues on relationship breakdown, and, with Rob George and Sonia Harris-Short, writes Family Law: Text, Cases, and Materials published by OUP in its 4th edition in 2019. An academic door tenant at 1 Hare Court, she has advised successfully in a number of high profile, appellate cases. She is a member of the Pension Advisory Group, having formerly worked on the Family Justice Council’s group that helped produce another AdviceNow guide Sorting out your finances when you get divorced.

Paul Cobley

Paul Cobley is a Certified Financial Planner and Director at Oak Barn Financial Planning. He specialises in providing advice on pensions on divorce and is a member of the Pension Advisory Group.

Rhys Taylor

Rhys Taylor is a barrister, arbitrator and mediator at 36 Family and 30 Park Place. He specialises in financial remedy and TOLATA/cohabitation cases. He is a Bencher of the Inner Temple and a member of the Bar Council ADR panel. He was a member of the Pension Advisory Group, co-author of Pensions on Divorce: A Practitioner's Handbook (3 rd edition, 2018) and a contributor to Resolution's "Cohabitation Claims" (2 nd edition, 2019) and Class's @eGlance. He has published numerous articles on family and property law and lectured the Judicial College on pensions on divorce. Rhys also conducts private FDRs. Rhys is commended in the Legal 500 and Chambers directories.
