A leading member of the group of Conservative MPs sacked by Boris Johnson from the parliamentary party has expressed his disappointment that moves to create “no-fault” divorce have been dropped.

David Gauke, the former lord chancellor, put a reform bill before MPs this year. He blamed its demise on the prime minister’s move to suspend parliament.
