Suspending parliament will scupper reforms designed to remove blame from divorce, according to the retired senior family law judge who lobbied for the change.

Sir Paul Coleridge, head of the Marriage Foundation, which ran a successful campaign with The Times to convince the May government to bring forward reforming legislation, said that the bill “will inevitably be a casualty of the proroguing of parliament”.
