  • The Court of Protection, Civil Proceedings and Magistrates Courts Fees (Amendment) Order 2018 (SI 2018/812) amended several fees in the Court of Protection Fees Order 2007, the Civil Proceedings Fees Order 2008, and the Magistrates Courts Fees Order 2008, with effect from 25 July 2018.
  • The Immigration and Nationality (Fees) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2018 (SI 2018/875) amended Schedule 2 of the Immigration and Nationality (Fees) Regulations 2018, with effect from 28 August 2018, setting fees in respect of applications for leave to remain in the United Kingdom.
  • The Legal Officers (Annual Fees) Order 2018 (SI 2018/899) replaced the 2017 Order with effect from 1 January 2019, prescribing the fees payable to diocesan and provincial registrars in respect of professional services.
  • The Ecclesiastical Judges, Legal Officers and Others (Fees) Order 2018 (SI 2018/900) revoked and replaced the 2017 Order with effect from 1 January 2019.
  • The Immigration and Nationality (Fees) (Amendment) (EU Exit) (No. 2) Regulations 2018 (SI 2018/999) amended the Immigration and Nationality (Fees) Regulations 2018, with effect from 8 October 2018 (apart from regs 3(2) and 6(h)).
  • The Criminal Legal Aid (Remuneration) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2018 (SI 2018/1323) amended the Criminal Legal Aid (Remuneration) Regulations 2013, with effect from 31 December 2018.
  • The Public Record Office (Fees) Regulations 2017 were revoked and replaced by the Public Record Office (Fees) Regulations 2018, SI 2018/1420, with effect from 1 February 2019. The fees were mainly increased, but four were reduced and two remained the same. Others were removed and some were streamlined.
  • The Public Guardian (Fees, etc) (Amendment) Regulations 2019 (SI 2019/1033) amended the Public Guardian (Fees, etc) Regulations 2007, with effect from 31 July 2019, providing for fees regarding the Public Guardians functions under s 58(2A) of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, introducing new fees for guardians, and extending the provisions relating to exemptions, reductions, remissions and application requirements.
  • The Court Fees (Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2019 (SI 2019/1063) changed fees in the Non-Contentious Probate Fees Order 2004, the Court of Protection Fees Order 2007, the Civil Proceedings Fees Order 2008, the Family Proceedings Fees Order 2008 and the Magistrates Courts Fees Order 2008, with effect from 22 July 2019
  • The Civil Procedure (Amendment No. 3) Rules 2019 (SI 2019/1118) amended the definition of an Aarhus convention claim in CPR 45.41(2), with effect from 1 October 2019.
  • The Insolvency Practitioners and Insolvency Services Account (Fees) (Amendment) Order 2019 (SI 2019/1427) made minor changes to the Insolvency Practitioners and Insolvency Services Account (Fees) (Amendment) Order 2019, removing redundant language and increasing the fee payable in connection with the recognition of professional bodies, with effect from 31 December 2019.
  • The Immigration and Nationality (Fees) (Refund, Waiver and
  • Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (S.I. 2019/475) and the Immigration and Nationality (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 (SI 2020/77) amended the Immigration and Nationality (Fees) Regulations 2018, the latter with effect from 20 February 2020.
  • The Civil Procedure (Amendment) Rules 2020 (SI 2020/82) added a reference to rule 73.10(6A)(a) to the table in CPR 45.8, with effect from 30 March 2020.
  • The Courts and Tribunals (Judiciary and Functions of Staff) Act 2018 (Consequential, Transitional and Saving Provision) Regulations 2020 (SI 2020/100) amend references to clerks in the Magistrates Courts Fees Order 2008, the Family Proceedings Fees Order 2008 and the Civil Legal Aid (Remuneration) Regulations 2013, with effect from 6 April 2020.
  • Part 2: Costs in Criminal Cases now includes the costs provisions relating to confiscation and restraint proceedings from the Criminal Procedure Rules 2015, rules 33.47 to 33.50, and Part IV of the Crown Court Rules 1982, which applies to the assesments of costs in Crown Court civil proceedings. The guidance in Part 2 has been brought up to date.
  • Part 5: Important Costs Cases has been updated with summaries of all the significant costs cases from 2018, 2019 and 2020, and a new section has been added: costs budgeting.
  • Appendix 1 has been updated with the 2019 SRA Code Of Conduct For Solicitors, RELs and RFLs.
